Kim Menzies Opens Up About Life After Usman and Finding Herself

Kim Menzies, known for her time on “90 Day: The Single Life,” is back this season, ready to embrace a new chapter after her split from Usman Umar. In a recent interview, Kim shared insights into her current relationship with Usman, her personal growth, and her journey to find love again.

Despite their breakup, Kim revealed that she and Usman remain in touch “sporadically” and maintain a “mutual respect” for each other. “I always remember the good times,” she said, “and I’m not going to go online and bash him. That’s just not my character to do that.” Kim wishes Usman all the best, expressing her hope for his “love and happiness.”

Reflecting on their relationship, Kim acknowledged that the significant age gap between them played a crucial role in their split. “I’m glad I’m out of it,” she admitted. “I feel like an 18-year age gap is huge, and I didn’t realize it till I was pulled out of it.” While she believes she “dodged” a bullet, Kim also confessed that she had “never fallen for somebody so deeply and completely.”

Confronting the Past

Kim bravely opened up about a deeply personal matter: confessing to her son Jamal that she had placed two other children for adoption over 30 years ago. She recounted the emotional journey, saying, “My oldest son, Larry, found me on a DNA website, and I panicked, and I didn’t know how to handle it. I was happy about it, and then I held it from Jamal for a while, and it did not turn out really good… I regret the way I handled it with Jamal… We’re doing fine now.”

Expressing her gratitude to TLC for providing a platform to share her story, Kim emphasized the weight she had carried for so long. “I don’t think anybody realizes, like, I’ve held two secrets in for 35 years of my life, and I’m free. I’m finally free, and it’s such a great feeling,” she exclaimed. “I can wake up in the morning, and I’m not worried about if somebody found out or anything.”

Building New Relationships

Kim is now building a relationship with her son Larry. “We talk, like, once a week. I have two grandkids that are just beautiful.” Kim is also on a quest to find her daughter. “I’ve reached out, and we’ll just keep my fingers crossed, and they said, ‘Don’t give up hope. You know, you might not find her tomorrow. You might find her five years from now.’”

Dating and Dreams

Amidst her journey of self-discovery, Kim is also exploring the dating scene. “Dating life is actually going well… I went on two dates; they’re just not my cup of tea,” she shared. “I just feel like I know what I want, and I’m just not going to settle for anything less.”

Kim is clear about what she seeks in a partner. She desires a man who matches her energy and is “mentally stable, financially stable… just be a good person.”
