Welcome To Plathville: Veronica Peters Is The New Olivia Plath (The Plaths Will Betray Her)
Welcome To Plathville season 6 has introduced Micah Plath’s girlfriend Veronica Plath, and with the Plath family currently team Veronica, it’s only a matter of time before they betray her and she becomes the new Olivia Plath. With Welcome To Plathville season 6 introducing Veronica, whose relationship with Micah has been happening long before the season’s start, there’s been a new relationship for the Plath family to invest themselves in. While Olivia’s relationship with Ethan Plath has been a longtime point of contention on the show, their divorce finally ended the struggle between the former flames and changed the series.
Throughout Welcome To Plathville’s run, viewers have seen Ethan and Olivia’s relationship play out on screen. The pair were married at just 20 years old, after having known each other for a little over a year. With pressure from their families, Ethan and Olivia felt that they needed to get married to start a life together. While Olivia was changing her ways as she got older, Ethan was shockingly stagnant in their marriage, which ultimately caused a major divide. With Olivia moving on with her life, her relationship with the Plath family was severed, but Veronica could take her place.
Veronica Is Trying To Push Her Way Into The Plath Family
She’s Determined To Be Accepted
Veronica’s time with Micah has been spent intensely getting to know one another, but now that she’s been introduced to his family and spent some time with them, the Floridian real estate agent likely has bigger plans. Veronica, who has pushed Micah to move away from his dreams of modeling, has been doing everything she can to ensure that the extended Plath family likes her. While she’s been shown most often with Micah, there have been moments on Welcome To Plathville season 6 where Veronica is bonding with Barry Plath, specifically over an incident they shared at a family event.
Veronica’s been hopeful she’d be able to use the ammo of having a negative interaction with Olivia at a recent Plath family wedding to bond with the rest of Micah’s family, and she was right. Bringing it up to Barry, both Veronica and Micah’s father shared that they felt Olivia had treated them poorly and was a narcissist they’d experienced in their lives. While Olivia had simply chosen not to interact with them at the wedding because of their terse relationship, Veronica took it as a personal slight and used the incident to push her way into the Plath family.
The Plaths Are Accepting Of Veronica The Way They Were With Olivia
The Similarities To Olivia’s Early Days Are Shocking
Although Olivia is now out of the Plath family, before she and Ethan divorced she’d become a pariah. Distancing herself from Kim Plath, Barry, and the rest of Ethan’s siblings, she’d chosen to protect herself rather than continue to pursue relationships with them. While Olivia had been close to the Plaths early in her marriage, things grew difficult when she’d tried to think for herself and pushed Ethan to do the same. In not conforming to what Kim and Barry wanted, she’d become too difficult to manage. Earlier in her relationship with Ethan, though, Olivia was praised by the Plaths.
When Olivia first entered the Plath family, Kim was kind to Olivia, sharing that she’d step in to take on the mother role in her life. Wanting to keep Olivia close, she was sweet to Ethan’s wife and did her best to make sure that she felt comfortable with the rest of the family, as well. Growing closer with his parents, siblings, and friends, Olivia was truly part of the family before it was all ripped away. By trying to bond with the Plaths, Veronica appears to be trying to get as close to the Plaths as Olivia once was.

She’s Trashing Olivia For Brownie Points

While Veronica could be bonding with the Plath family over something they have in common, like their affection for Micah, she’s been taking a different approach to curry favor with the family. Initially sharing her dislike for Olivia with Barry, she’s been trying to spread negativity about Ethan’s ex-wife with the rest of the family as well. While the Plaths are happy to have Olivia out of their lives, they love trashing her at every chance they get. Veronica seems to have figured this out and is doing what she can to use it to her advantage with the Plaths.
Veronica’s choice to use the Plaths dislike and distrust of Olivia as the way into their family group chat is a smart move, but doesn’t make her look good to Welcome To Plathville viewers. Despite knowing that Olivia was once beloved by the Plath family and ultimately became too strong-willed for them to support, it’s strange to see Veronica choosing to try and bond with them in a similar fashion. Veronica, who lives independently and would likely have similar thinking to Olivia should she and Micah get married, may not want to place all her stock in the Plath family.
Will The Plath Family Ever Truly Accept Veronica?
They’ll Push Her Out Eventually
Although it appears that the Plath family loves Veronica right now, it’s only a matter of time before she becomes the next Olivia in their eyes. With a similarly independent spirit and a hold on one of their sons, Kim and Barry won’t be able to stand for Micah putting Veronica above them the way he’s already started doing. With Kim, Barry, and the rest of the family accepting Veronica at the moment, it’s just the calm before the storm with the tough-to-please Plaths. Although Veronica’s taken up complaining about Olivia publicly, she’ll relate to the former Plath soon enough.
Veronica and Olivia have a lot more in common than the former seems to understand. While Olivia wasn’t happy about Veronica calling her out on Welcome To Plathville, she shared she understood why Veronica did it and made it clear she agreed it was to curry favor with Barry at the moment. Veronica choosing to use another woman’s experience without ever speaking to her about it or interacting with her at all was odd, but it makes her look loyal in the Plath’s eyes. Unfortunately, Veronica’s loyalty to the Plaths will eventually get her pushed out of the family’s fold.
