‘Welcome to Plathville’ Stars Lydia Plath & Wyse Reveal Where Their Relationship with Ethan Plath Stands Following His Cruel Behavior During Their Proposal

Lydia Plath and her husband Zac Wyse are opening up about the deplorable behavior displayed by Lydia’s brothers on the day Zac proposed to Lydia.

As Welcome to Plathville fans know, Lydia’s brothers Ethan and Micah, as well as Micah’s then-girlfriend Veronica Peters, bullied Zac, and attempted to take the attention away from him and Lydia and the proposal he had planned. After Zac allowed Lydia’s family to be present for the proposal, Ethan, Micah and Veronica did cruel— and sometimes downright strange– things. Viewers watched as Ethan set fires in the spot that Zac planned to propose (!!), and the group made countless rude comments about Zac. Micah nearly knocked Zac over when he decided to randomly roll his body downhill as Zac was finalizing the proposal plans.

Last week, Lydia addressed the dozens of comments she was receiving about the situation on Instagram. However, she refused to discuss it publicly at the time because she said she wanted to talk to her brothers first. In a new interview with Access Hollywood, though, Lydia (and Zac) addressed the situation and gave an update on where their relationship stands with Ethan now.“There’s been reconciliation with pretty much all of them,” Lydia said. “The biggest one was Ethan a few weeks ago, and that was really beautiful. He really, sincerely apologized for a lot of things. It was really heartfelt and really sweet.”

No word on if Zac and Lydia can expect an apology from Micah to come ROLLING IN any time soon…

Lydia then revealed that she had “them” (assumingly meaning her fire-starting/barrel-rolling brothers) “over for game day the other day.”

“I’ll bring the extra chairs!”

“We were hanging out, working with him, having fun with him and growing that relationship,” Lydia said of Ethan, adding that her brother no longer has doubts about Zac.

“…after spending more time [with Zac, Ethan] really sees now that Zac is a hard worker, and that he truly does love and care and tend to me,” Lydia insisted. “He sees that I’m happy and that’s all that matters.”

During the interview with Access Hollywood, Zac also discussed the post-proposal grilling her received from Micah and Ethan, which included the brothers questioning Zac’s sexuality.

“I went into all of this knowing that the brothers would be protective,” Zac said. “…I knew I was going to have some opposition, and reacting to it was probably more of what they wanted, and that’s not my MO. I don’t react to frustration…I want to be the best I can for Lydia. If they don’t see that, then that’s their problem.”

Zac even stated that he understood why Zac and Micah reacted the way they did.

“Because of their protection of Lydia, she’s a very sweet person and they want to protect that,” he said.

“By BARREL-ROLLING THEMSELVES INTO THE GROOM-TO-BE? Umm…alright then.”

While Lydia did admit that her brothers “went overboard” with their behavior, she stated that she did not watch what her brothers did during the proposal scene, because Zac advised her not to.

“Zac told me [not to] and that’s all I needed to hear,” she said. “I was frustrated with them, to say the least. But I was also like, ‘Whatever, we’re going to get through this. In a few months, that’s not going to be a big deal because we’ll talk through it with them.”

“We’re not going to let them take us off of our path,” Zac added.

Lydia stated that she and Zac were thankful that so many ‘Plathville’ fans rallied around them after the proposal episode aired, but Lydia disagreed with fans who encouraged her to cut ties with her brothers.

“Yeah Lydia, that would be…um…awful to not have to– I mean GET TO– see your brothers again.”

“There were a lot of people who were going overboard, like telling me that I need to get away from my family,” she said. “I’m like, ‘You guys, no, it’s not like that. We’re on good terms.”

“Yeah, it’s not that dramatic,” Zac added.

“Yes, there were several aspects that shouldn’t have happened,” Lydia said. “But it was nothing that couldn’t be talked about and recovered from.”

When a clip of the interview was posted to Access Hollywood‘s “Reality Nightcap” Instagram page, fans were quick to criticize Lydia for “speaking for Zac.” Others pointed out that Zac may not be as OK with Ethan & Co. as Lydia is claiming, something Zac later disputed in the post’s comment section.

“Wow you guys twist anything. Lydia’s answer was great and I probably would’ve said a lot of the same. The point is Ethan apologized,” Zac wrote.

“If you didn’t like stuff that’s twisted, you married into the wrong family, man!”

As The Ashley previously reported, Veronica— who is no longer dating Micah— has not apologized publicly for her behavior during the proposal. In fact, when fans called her out for being rude and cruel to Zac, Veronica defended her behavior.

“ … you know it’s a highly edited version of what happened,” Veronica replied in the comments. “I firmly believe in testing people’s true colors before you [marry] them. My family paid people to test my brother-in-law’s true colors and they turned out fine not for nothing.”

Veronica has recently been speaking out about both the alleged abuse she suffered while filming Season 7 of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ and her disdain for the Plaths. After the episode aired, Veronica took to social media to express her doubts that Zac will be able to make it in the Plath family.

“I don’t see their marriage lasting if he’s near that family,” she added, referring to Zac and Lydia’s union.

“I’ll be in my prayer closet praying for you, Veronica!”

When another fan wrote that they were surprised to see Veronica supporting Ethan and Micah’s bullying of Zac, Veronica continued to defend her behavior, insisting that, “you have to test people’s true colors” and mentioning again that her family allegedly “paid somebody” to “test” her brother-in-law. In another response, Veronica doubled down on her prediction about Lydia and Zac’s marriage.

“ … They’ll be divorced soon anyways,” she wrote.

Lydia and Zach recently celebrated their six-month wedding anniversary.

“6 months into forever!” she captioned an Instagram post showing photo from their wedding. “Growing in love has been the most beautiful journey with you @zaclwyse”

Micah and Ethan have yet to publicly address their behavior, and have not responded to the abundance of comments on their most-recent Instagram posts.
