‘Welcome To Plathville’ Proof Olivia Used Plaths Then Dumped Them?
Welcome to Plathville fans seem to be divided over Olivia Plath. There is definitely a strong Team Olivia amongst TLC viewers. However, others think she’s some sort of master manipulator. But if people think about it, there seems to be a sea of manipulation going on by almost everyone in the Plath Family
Welcome to Plathville Expands, Includes Olivia Plath’s Sister
Since TLC started airing the show about the large fundamentalist family, other people arrived. In Season 4, Nathan Meggs featured quite prominently, and in Season 5, fans saw more of Lydia Meggs. They also grew up in a very religious family. So, that adds more people trying to find their way in the dysfunctional family.
Some people think it’s not Olivia Plath who is the villain in the Plath Family. There are those who are not Team Moriah as well. Then there are those who cheer for Kim Plath who broke free from her marriage in her 50s. Meanwhile, others think that she is the ultimate manipulator of her kids. However, there are now 10 kids and young adults in the show. Throw in three older adults, all with their own agendas, relationships seem terribly hard to navigate.
Olivia is a narcissist. She’s always the victim. When she’s done introducing Ethan and Moriah to everything, she’ll dump them and look for her next victims. She wanted to control/brainwash/manipulate all the Plath kids. Turn them against their parents. Kim wouldn’t allow it.

Olivia Plath Uses People, Dumps Them When It Suits Her?
Welcome to Plainville fans recently took to Reddit to discuss Moriah and her sister-in-law. An OP wrote:
I can’t stand the double standard that Olivia holds for Ethan and the other Plath’s but never sees any wrong in the things she does or says. She is only willing to talk when she wants and uses people when she needs then but when she has no more use she just leaves them behind and convinces others that they should do the same. She did it with her sister, that Moriah was apparently close to and as soon as Olivia didn’t want a relationship with her sister, she pulled Moriah from her too.
While a lot of people agree that Olivia Plath seems to manipulate the Welcome to Plathville Plath family, others disagree that she’s the mastermind:
- She has used some subtle manipulation for sure, but she isn’t the only one. I’ve seen a couple of the Plaths do it too, namely Barry, Kim, Lydia, Moriah and Ethan.
- You see manipulation, I see a person with boundaries and residual trauma from how she was raised. If she’s a master manipulator, she’s failing miserably.
- I get so confused about this because the things people often cite as her manipulation is…her clearly stating what she wants or needs. Now, it’s okay to have a problem with those statements. But like…I don’t see a ton of manipulation from her.
- As an ex fundie, whom is learning how to find peace in a very dysfunctional family, I see & hear this all the time. I think a lot of people misunderstand boundaries and view it as an attempt to be controlling.
What are your thoughts about the manipulation that goes on in the Plath family? Do you agree that Olivia is a master manipulator? Or, do you think that everyone contributes to the family dynamic? After all, all of them seem to be damaged and dysfunctional in a way. Sound off in the comments section below,
