The Welcome To Plathville family was living on a farm in rural Georgia. Their uptight norms also included emphasizing biblical values, strict discipline, and isolation from mainstream culture. But since the family began to shift from these rules, a lot of things have changed.

As the years have passed, both parents appear to be re-evaluating their approach to raising their younger children. They had already been doing so and it has heightened since their divorce. Well, there’s clearly more flexibility, and Kim recently explained why. The star decided to do so when she found out people had been drawing comparisons between her young daughter Mercy and the family rebel, Moriah.

As the premiere of Welcome To Plathville Season 7 is just around the corner, Kim admitted she has eased up quite a bit. She said her younger girls now have pierced ears. In fact, Cassie has been wearing a little makeup, and Mercy has even been picking out her own clothes. The infamous mom shared a recent moment where Mercy chose a flannel shirt and tied it around her waist, showing more independence in her style.

That’s when the producer asked if Mercy reminded her of Moriah in that way. The latter has always been a rebel, especially with her tattoos and her willingness to break free from the norms. So, that question struck a chord with Kim. She said she’s not sure she wants to make that comparison now that she’s no longer with Barry. Kim explained that she still cares deeply about how her kids present themselves.

But now, she gives them more room to express who they are. After watching Moriah rebel, grow, and turn out well, Kim says she feels more relaxed about letting the younger kids explore who they want to be.
