Sister Wives: We Are Still Worried About Kody Brown’s One Confession About His Relationship With Robyn

The Reality TV series, Sister Wives featured Kody Brown and his whirlwind marriages. One statement from the father of 18 had fans gasping!

  • The TLC Reality TV show, Sister Wives showcased a large polygamist family.
  • Kody Brown, the patriarch, confessed that he was open to having more children.
  • This was shocking since he shared 18 kids with his four wives and didn’t even have a good bond with them.

TLC’s reality TV series Sister Wives featured an irregular American family. The show’s premise was based on a real-life polygamist family, Kody Brown and his four wives. The show premiered in 2010 and with 18 seasons is still being broadcasted.

However, one element of the show went on to greatly disturb people. The family patriarch shared a total of 18 children with his ‘wives’, and later stated he wanted more. Brown’s confession of wanting more children with his now-legal wife, Robyn Brown sparked debates. He already did not share a good bond with his existing kids and wanting more on top of that just seemed unsmart.

Dad of 18 wants more? Unsettling confession

Kody Brown lives a somewhat distinct life when compared to other Americans. The Brown family is polygamist with the patriarch having four wives and this is the aspect that made them transition into Reality TV. Though currently he is only legally married to Robyn Brown and ‘separated’ from his other three wives.

They stated that their purpose in making Sister Wives was to educate the general public about polygamy. The show captured intimate details of the lives of not only the husband but also his four wives- Robyn, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and their 18 children.

He shared one child with Meri, six with both Janelle and Christine, and 5 with Robyn, although 3 were between her and her ex-husband David Preston whom he later adopted. However, what shocked audiences was when the husband confessed to wanting more.

That’s really up to her, but it’s always fun to sit here and fill my youth going, ‘I can have kids if I want to’.

The Reality TV star spoke to US Weekly in 2021, saying he’s open to having more kids. Although he mentioned the final decision lay in the hands of his partner (Robyn) he did tease his kids with the subject. One might have thought having 18 kids meant a full stop but not for the Brown family patriarch.

Broken ties and hearts: The Brown children

The confession was shocking for viewers because the husband didn’t share a strong bond with his existing children. Amidst drama surrounding his legal and spiritual marriages, the show also showcased the friction between Brown and his kids.

I’d tell my kids that all of the time, that he’s going to come over. We’re going to have a great time, and after a while, they stopped believing me.

His ex-wife, Christine Allred appeared on a podcast, Reality Life with Katie Casey (via The List), and divulged some information about the complicated bond. The former Sister Wives star confessed that her ex-husband didn’t manage his time properly for all the children.

It’s terrible that I’m making this about myself, but it hurts so much to see him be a good father to others when I didn’t really get that much.

His daughter, Gwendlyn Brown has her own YouTube channel and frequently posts about her strained relationship with her father. Watching one of the episodes from the show about her dad with her half-siblings, the young girl stated it wasn’t like that for her.

I just can’t recall many good events with Dad because he wasn’t there for most of our childhood.

Another Brown child, Paedon reaffirmed his sister’s statement in an interview with John Yates. He stated his father wasn’t very present in their childhoods and so they were not close. The patriarch’s strained bonds with his existing children, especially older ones, are proof of his not-so-spectacular parenting skills.

Sister Wives is currently available to watch on Prime Video.
