‘Sister Wives’ star Gwendlyn Brown implies she doesn’t think her father Kody Brown loves her
- Gwendlyn Brown Queiroz insinuates that her dad Kody Brown doesn’t love her on Sunday’s “Sister Wives.”
- Some of Kody’s adult children had an argument with his wife Robyn Brown about a gift exchange.
- “I would like to say that I didn’t care, but it still hurts,” Queiroz says about her father’s absence from her life.
TLC’s “Sister Wives” star Gwendlyn Brown Queiroz (who married her wife Beatriz Queiroz in July 2023) admitted to Janelle Brown, her mother Christine Brown, and some of her siblings that she doesn’t think her father Kody Brown loves her.
In a scene on Sunday’s episode filmed in spring 2022, Queiroz is visiting with Christine, Janelle, and some of Janelle’s kids while Christine is visiting the family’s home in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The family members are talking about the rift that has pitted Kody and his wife Robyn Brown against the majority of the family when Queiroz says sarcastically, “Oh my God, imagine your father loving you.”
Her half-sister Savanah Brown (who is Kody and Janelle’s youngest child) tries to comfort her.
“I still think he loves you, he’s just angry at you for like, no reason,” Savanah tells Queiroz.
In the scene, many of the adult Brown children reflected on an argument that occurred between Robyn and some of the kids over a gift exchange that was supposed to happen over the 2021 holiday season. Robyn, who has young children and follows strict rules for COVID-19 safety, wanted the gift exchange to happen virtually while many other family members pushed for it to happen in person.
In confessional interviews, many Brown family members said that old wounds opened up about Robyn and her kids feeling victimized by the rest of the family. She decided that her kids wouldn’t participate in the exchange (and it’s unclear if the event occurred at all).
“All of you are just kind of jerks,” Kody says in a confessional interview in the episode reflecting on how Robyn has been treated. “I don’t want to be around you. And I’m tired of it. And I don’t want to call them, and I don’t want to talk to them.”
Kody doesn’t respond directly to Queiroz implying he doesn’t love her in footage on the episode. He says he reciprocates all of their negative feelings, and he doesn’t separate his feelings about Janelle and Christine from those about most of his adult kids.
“I’ve told Gwendlyn for years that her dad loves her,” Christine says reflecting on Queiroz’s feelings in an interview. “But it’s not my job to convey Kody’s love to Gwendlyn, it’s his job.”
“I would like to say that I didn’t care, but it still hurts,” Queiroz tells her half-brother Garrison Brown when he says that Kody’s adult children no longer need a father figure in their lives.
Kody and Christine announced their split in November 2021. Janelle followed, announcing her separation from Kody a year later. His first wife, Meri Brown, also publicly made her split from Kody known in January 2023. Robyn is currently his only wife.
“Sister Wives” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
