Sister Wives: News Roundup (Week of Oct.16-22) – Gwendlyn Defended Kody & Christine Honeymooned At Disneyland

Sister Wives season 18’s in full swing, and the cast members are evolving offscreen. They were online this week, sharing lots of interesting facts.

The stars of Sister Wives season 18 were active online this week, sharing fascinating facts about their lives. Onscreen, the cast’s still adjusting to Christine Brown’s departure. Janelle Brown’s got one foot out the door, and Meri Brown’s planning her move out of Flagstaff. She’s got a bed and breakfast in Parowan, Utah, and she wants to relocate. She’ll run her clothing business (she’s linked with the LuLaRoe fashion brand) in the Beehive State.

Sister Wives season 18’s showing the Brown family at its worst. Kody Brown and his wives (past and present) are involved in a long and tedious battle that they’re destined to lose. Offscreen, Janelle Brown and Meri Brown left Kody. Christine recently married David Woolley. That wedding sparked a lot of drama. Meri was conspicuously absent from the guest list, but Janelle and her kids were there, along with Christine’s children. Kody unloaded, comparing his exes’ departures to a “death,” as per US Weekly.

Meri Shared Pictures From Her Brother Adam’s Funeral

Meri took to Instagram to share photos from her brother Adam’s funeral, and one of them’s shown above. Meri, who’s currently 52, was clearly deep in grief when she added the caption, ““He left us two weeks ago today, and yesterday, he was laid to rest.” She captioned her post. “We celebrated his life and his love for all things America, Mickey, and the Dodgers, surrounded by family and friends. Rest easy, brother! ❤️🤍💙.”

In the picture above, the reality TV show star’s brother’s in a coffin adorned with a USA flag. He’s being saluted by a member of the military. She also shared photos of herself with other funeral attendees. Meri honored her sibling by wearing a colorful t-shirt that featured a Mickey Mouse graphic.

Meri’s said that she and her brother had their problems. Of course, she was still deeply saddened by his passing. Their childhood battles don’t matter now. All that matters is the love she feels, which is eternal.

This was a heavy blow for Meri, who’s already been through so much. She suffered during her marriage to Kody, especially after her unfortunate catfishing scandal came to light. He never forgave her for that indiscretion, but he should have, because he didn’t really love her anyway. People generally forgive to the extent that they love, and his lack of compassion told a story.

Gwendlyn Brown Thanked Her Mom Christine For A Gift (Gwendlyn Wasn’t At The Wedding)

Sister Wives' Gwendlyn Brown, with Christine Brown and David Woolley's wedding behind her

Gwendlyn Brown skipped her own mom’s wedding, which is pretty shocking. That’s actually more surprising than the fact that Meri didn’t attend. However, the warm and wonderful Christine isn’t the type to hold grudges. Rather than getting mad, she gave her daughter a present. Gwendlyn publicly thanked her for the gift.

Gwendlyn’s currently 22. At Instagram, she let her mom know how much she appreciated the present. Christine sent her a meal, which was a very loving thing to do. Christine’s gift was delivered via the DoorDash app. In her caption, she gave her 51-year old mom a shout-out, writing,“Thank you for the boutenteller mutti @christine_brownsie.”

Christine Spent Her Honeymoon At Disneyland (& May Have Dissed Kody)

Christine and her new hubby David headed to the Magic Kingdom, where they lived it up in the world’s happiest place. In an Instagram post featuring the couple, Christine may have taken a jab at Kody by saying, “I firmly believe in living my life like I believe in Karma.” Mentioning karma after a somewhat nasty split is definitely veering into “cryptic” territory. She also added some romantic hashtags, including #myking and #liveyourbestlife.”

Christine’s in such a good place in her life. Like Meri, she went through so much during her marriage to Kody. Christine used to be the youngest wife, but she was usurped by the petite brunette, Robyn. Christine got so jealous – she had a lot of trouble coming to terms with the fact that Kody was clearly smitten with his newest spouse. In fact, when Kody openly favored Robyn before he officially married her, Christine left the room when she found out.

Now, she doesn’t have to compete with any other woman. She’s in a traditional marriage at last. Christine belongs in a typical relationship, rather than a plural marriage. She’s simply ill-equipped to handle the downside of polygamy, which is needing to share her man with other females.

Kody Claims That Christine & Janelle Are Trying To Keep The Kids Away From Him

Kody’s all about sour grapes following season 18, as he’s been feeling betrayed by his exes and kids. Last week, he talked about his grief reaction in the wake of three wives leaving him. Now, he’s accusing Janelle and Christine of wanting to keep the kids, “all to themselves,” as per an exclusive Today sneak preview from the show.

After splits, parental alienation can be a real thing. Sometimes, kids end up being used as pawns, but Janelle and Christine’s kids are old enough to make up their own minds about their parents’ failed relationships. They may also assign blame. The issue here is that Kody prefers Robyn, and could never really hide that fact. Many of his children also think that he’s given his kids with Robyn more money and attention.

Everyone’s the hero in their own story, so it’s not a total surprise that Kody doesn’t see himself as the villain. However, she should have more self-awareness than this. For years, Kody’s been getting dragged for the way he’s ruined the Brown family by neglecting Janelle, Meri and Christine. So, it’s somewhat shocking that he can’t acknowledge this central truth, and the fact that it’s negatively impacted his relationships with his exes and their kids. He’s constantly trying to change the narrative, perhaps to try and improve his reputation.

In the video, Kody stated that he’s interested in repairing his relationships with his kids, but said that he can adjust to life without them if he has to. That wishy-washy attitude is part of the reason why he’s in this situation to begin with. When a mom or dad’s emotionally able to live without a child, it’s a bad sign.

Kody has 18 kids, and it may be easier for him to detach from some of them just because he has others who are still a part of his lives. The clip showed him saying, “We can fix things. We can heal things. We can get some of our family back together, most of it back together maybe.” He didn’t seem that confident, and added, “But right now because of where everybody’s at (and) where I’m at, I have a life with Robyn and her children. And right now, I’m ok with that even though I hope we can fix things and move things to a different place,”

Gwendlyn Defended Her Dad Kody After Christine’s Harsh Comment

While Kody was griping about his relationships with his kids, one of his children gallantly came to his defense. Maybe he doesn’t give his kids enough credit – they’ve been through a lot. Gwendlyn’s been critical of her dad in the past, accusing him of overspending, but this time, she had his back.

She actually said some pretty sweet things about her father, including the fact that he treated her like a, “princess” when she was little. Gwendlyn said he used to sing songs about her. She was his, “Gwynnie Bear,” as per Gwendlyn’s Patreon video. Apparently, during their divorce, Christine said that Kody didn’t love her. If Christine uttered those words, that’s brutal, but maybe Gwendlyn’s mom was just angry. In the heat of the moment, she could have made wild statements that she didn’t mean.

While it’s so easy to blame Kody for every single thing, there may be a grain of truth to the fact that the exes might not want Kody to spend a lot of time with their kids. The exes are bitter, and that bitterness may be seeping into their parenting. It’s pretty common for this type of stuff to happen during breakups. However, as time passes, the ex-wives may gain more perspective. Hopefully, they’ll support Kody’s relationships with his children, rather than putting him down. That mature approach will be better for the kids. It may take some time before the exes reach that level of maturity, but it could happen.

What’s Next For The Sister Wives Season 18 Cast?

Sister Wives season 18’s featured some dizzying highs and lows. Christine left, and seemed elated to be able to move on from the turmoil. Her happiness is a bright spot on the season, but there have been some dismal moments too. Janelle’s fights with Kody have been depressing. When they aren’t yelling at each other, they’re enduring an awkward “first date” that leaves Janelle feeling unsatisfied. The family’s falling apart, and Kody isn’t able to take responsibility. While he may not deserve one hundred percent of the blame, he deserves a lot of it, and that’s something that he pretends he doesn’t understand.
