Sister Wives- Kody Started The Brown Family “Civil War” (So Why Is He Complaining About It?)

Kody Brown from Sister Wives had three breakups in under three years, most of which were his fault. When the 54-year-old debuted on the show in 2010, he had been polygamous for over 15 years. He had three wives and only cared about expanding his family. In season 1, Kody married Robyn Brown and brought her into the family. The other Sister Wives, Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown, welcomed the new wife and quickly accepted her. Unfortunately, things didn’t remain the same for long, and jealousy turned the Brown family dysfunctional.

Over the years, Kody’s and his wives faced various challenges in building harmony. They drifted apart, eventually leading Meri, Janelle, and Christine to end their relationship. Recently, Sister Wives season 18 premiered, and Kody opened up about the war that broke out in his polygamist family. The Sister Wives star revealed that his failed relationships have upset him while blaming the wives who divorced him.

Doesn’t Kody Know It’s His Fault?

In the premiere, Kody said, “the state of the family is strained. I mean, it almost feels like a civil war.” He then added, “I feel so betrayed after all that I have done.” Kody’s tone suggests that he believes everyone else is responsible for the demise of his plural marriages.

However, the reality star doesn’t realize that he’s the one who initiated a civil war between his family members. Kody despises Christine and Janelle Brown because they left him and chose their independence above him. He fails to realize they would have never felt devalued in the relationship if he had given them enough attention. The Brown family patriarch believes he’s in the middle of a civil war because Janelle and Christine don’t want to stay close to Meri Brown and Robyn, splitting his family into two.

Kody Has Shifted Blame Before

Kody’s latest comments also suggest that he’s a hypocrite. He was always polygamous and wanted to grow his family. However, he suddenly became monogamous after his first three wives left. His actions show that he may have used plural marriage to benefit himself. Over the years, Kody has blamed Christine, Janelle, and even Meri for not respecting polygamous values. However, he isn’t doing the same anymore. Kody seems happy with Robyn and tired of plural relationships. The Brown family patriarch can’t see that he’s doing the same thing his first three wives did.

This “Civil War” Has No Winners

Sister Wives season 18 seems like a complete nightmare for viewers and cast alike. Ideally, the reality TV series should’ve ended with season 17 since Meri, Janelle, and Christine have split from Kody. However, the show has returned with the battle over Coyote Pass and Robyn not wanting to return to a plural marriage. So far, Sister Wives season 18 is looking like a complete mess. Nonetheless, viewers did not expect a “civil war,” especially between everyone in the family.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
