Sister Wives’ Kody Says Janelle Reconciliation Is Possible If She Gets from Under Christine’s ‘Pathetic’ Influence
On Sunday’s ‘Sister Wives’ episode, Kody Brown admitted he’s “afraid” of expressing his concerns about Christine’s influence over Janelle to her directly
When it comes to further cementing his separation from Janelle Brown, Kody Brown believes his ex-wife Christine Brown is to blame.
On Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives, the Brown family patriarch opened up about the status of his three remaining relationships. Describing his dynamic with his fourth wife Robyn Brown, Kody said he’s “married to the love of my life.” However, the 54-year-old’s other marriages — including his dynamic with ex Christine, 51 — are not as simple.
“I’ve got these other situations at different levels of discord,” he told the cameras. “It’s hard to reconcile and [we] just got all this angst in our lives.
Kody noted that things with first wife Meri Brown — from whom he’s since announced his split as the show depicts the lead-up to that point — are “amiable” but “distant.” The reality star noted he doesn’t “know what to do with a marriage that’s supposed to be eternal but doesn’t have any fire.”
As for how things are going with Janelle, Kody said: “She doesn’t want to reconcile.”
“We see each other once in a while. We talk on the phone once in a while,” he continued. “I do believe we could reconcile. I do believe that it would require Christine and Janelle to sort of [be] like, ‘It’s been nice hanging out a lot.'”
Kody added: “Christine has so much influence over Janelle, I just think it’s pathetic.”
Despite Kody’s belief, he admittedly doesn’t feel comfortable expressing this concern with Janelle. “I don’t want to say anything to Janelle because I’m afraid Christine will find out about it or if the kids will find out about it. It’s like, I just don’t want to talk about me,” he said.
Kody, additionally, doesn’t understand “why Janelle can’t be married with me.”
“She was married to me when I was married to Meri and she was married to me when I was married to Christine and she was married to me while I was married to Robyn,” he continued. “Why not now?”
Janelle, 54, also had a lot to say about her relationship with Kody in Sunday’s episode. Toward the episode’s end, she had a candid conversation with Christine about her marriage’s downfall and what was next for her.
As she began changing, Janelle realized that she needed “something different from a relationship” and that her current dynamic with Kody “just doesn’t seem to fit the parameters anymore” of what they once had. She also feels as if they have been “friends with benefits for years,” which Christine noted to the cameras was “not a marriage.”
“I would consider a plural marriage again,” Janelle told Christine. “Like, I really like it. I like plural marriage.”
However, Janelle also admitted that she “would” stay with Kody if he “changed,” adding that he would have to “fully engage with me as a marriage partner again” and “give me what I needed in a relationship.”
Janelle, Christine and Meri all concluded their marriages with Kody in a span of 14 months. He is now practicing monogamy with Robyn.
