Sister Wives: Christine And Janelle Brown Wishes Their Kids Reconcile With Their Father
The premiere episode of “Sister Wives” kicked off with Kody Brown and his ex-wife Janelle Brown arguing about Kody’s estrangement with their children most especially Garrison, 25, and Gabriel, 22. The argument always ended with both parties extremely mad at each other and never gaining a common ground.
Although Janelle has always made it clear that if it ever comes between Kody and her six children, Logan, 29; Maddie, 27; Hunter, 26; Garrison, 25; Gabriel, 22, and Savanah, 18, she would always pick her children over him. Janelle low-key wishes her children would make up with their father.
The same goes for Christine Brown. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the former sister wives shared their desires for their children to find a way to reconcile with their absentee father Kody. Christine also shares six children Aspyn, 28; Mykelti, 27; Paedon, 25, Gwendlyn, 21, Ysabel, 20, and Truely, 13 with Kody.
Sister Wives Spoilers — Janelle And Christine Brown ‘Have To’ Hope They All Reconcile
The children of both mothers are bitter that their father is an absentee parent in their lives while he’s always present in the lives of his last and currently only wife Robyn Brown. While the older children of Janelle and Christine disagree with Kody over many things, he seems to be carefree with Robyn’s children.
He even at one time took Robyn’s daughter Aurora to get her first piercing but he never showed up to Ysabel’s surgery. Both Janelle and Christine’s children are convinced Kody is playing favoritism and have already chosen sides.
During one of the episodes, Garrison who has always blamed Robyn for taking their father away from them said, “You know what Robyn? Have him. We’re all grown adults who don’t need a father figure anymore.”
In the interview with PEOPLE, Christine said, “I believe it will come around and eventually they’ll have [a] good relationship with their dad again. I have to believe that.” Janelle told the outlet, “They started to bring up more and more feeling like he had chosen sides. So they started to really justify him being apart, because they felt like he was choosing one family over another.”
Christine, 51, recalled the conversation she had with daughters Gwendlyn and Ysabel, “There was one conversation where I had with Gwendlyn and Ysabel, and they were like, ‘Well, is dad going to be coming over?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, he’s going to come over. He loves you, he wants to be around you.’”
She continued, “And there was a look in their eyes and I’m like, ‘I don’t know. I just don’t know.’ And from that point on, they just understood that he had chosen to be somewhere else, and that was difficult.”
In Kody’s defense, Janelle said, “I can observe that Kody seems to have trouble relating to his older children and he seems to dote on the younger children. And when my children were younger, it was very easy for him to be a father, right, because he was still kind of this important [figure].”
She added, “He was important to them. His opinion mattered to them, his guidance mattered to them. And now, because they question a little bit, I think it might be harder for Kody to feel like he’s respected.”
