Sister Wives’ Janelle Says She Doesn’t ‘Like’ Kody and Robyn: I’m ‘Not Going to Be Buddies With Them’
Sister Wives star Janelle Brown shared a candid update about where she stands with ex-husband Kody Brown and his last remaining wife, Robyn Brown.
“I can still be very friendly with Kody. I never really had much of a relationship with Robyn,” Janelle, 56, explained during part 2 of the Sister Wives: One-on-One special on Sunday, June 1. “I don’t have any hate or hard feelings or anything. I just don’t really want to know them.”
After host Sukanya Krishnan asked if she could share “specific examples” of why she didn’t want to have a relationship with Robyn, 46, Janelle said she couldn’t think of any.
“I could sit and talk to them. That would be fine. If it was all superficial. I would be fine if we, you know, I would talk to them. That’s no big deal,” she said. “I’m just not going to be buddies with them or, like, go to lunch with them.”
Janelle then added that she was simply done with Kody, 56, and Robyn. “I don’t need it. I don’t want it. I’m not looking for it,” she said, adding that she believed they don’t have compatible personality types to be friends. “I really just don’t like them. I don’t want to know them. I don’t want to be friends with them. I just don’t like them.”
When reflecting on their possible future interactions, Janelle said that she doesn’t “like” Kody and Robyn in any “setting” where they’re forced to interact. “I just don’t like them. I don’t want to be friends with them,” she reiterated.
After Kody married his first wife, Meri Brown, in 1990, he and Janelle had a spiritual wedding in 1993. Christine Brown joined their plural family in 1994, while Robyn became part of the family in 2010. Kody and Meri, 54, then divorced in 2014 but remained in a spiritual marriage so that he could legally wed Robyn and adopt her kids from a previous relationship.
Christine, 53, was Kody’s first wife to leave the family in 2021, while Janelle followed suit in December 2022. Meri hinted at her split from Kody that same month, and the former couple eventually confirmed their decision to call it quits in January 2023.
While Janelle is happy leaving Kody in her past, he previously admitted that she was the one that got away.
“I hear about Christine falling in love and getting married [to husband David Wooley] and stuff like this, and I’m, like, going, ‘Well, good on Christine,’” the family patriarch said during a Sister Wives season 9 confessional. “Janelle was a different story. I always thought – I just felt like Janelle and I could have worked it out.”
Not only is Janelle happy to distance herself from Kody and Robyn, but she has also said that she’s content with staying single.
“My marriage is over. I don’t know what I’m gonna do,” Janelle said during the February 17 episode of Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson’s “Sibling Revelry” podcast. “I’m not really interested in getting married again or even really dating at this stage. So, I’m not even thinking about, like, ‘Oh, what do I need to do?’ Because I’m just like, I am over [it].”
Janelle added that she is “done” dating and “love[s]” the single life. However, she admitted she would “consider” entering a new relationship “if something presents itself in the future.”
