Sister Wives – 9 Times Robyn’s Self-Victimization Reached An All-Time High (She Swears She’s Not The Problem)

Sister Wives Robyn Brown said she wasn’t a victim in the series most recent episode, but Robyn’s behavior has been consistent with self-victimization.

Sister Wives season 18 continues to bring the drama, especially with Robyn Brown explaining time and time again that she’s not the victim while she makes herself the victim of every situation. The series has taken a look at the crumbling marriages of Kody Brown and his other wives, Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown through the last several seasons of the series, but things with Robyn have been taking a hit as well. The couple has been invested in their relationship and plural marriage for years, but things are changing as Kody’s other relationships come to a screeching halt.

For Robyn, who has always been painted as Kody’s favorite wife, being his only wife has become the sort of narrative she was never interested in. Robyn has always portrayed herself as the victim, even before she and Kody married in 2014. After leaving her first husband, Robyn was looking for a plural family. She met Kody and things got serious between them quickly, with the pair deciding to get married a few years later. Though Robyn has changed the Brown’s family dynamic forever, her behavior has never wavered much when it comes to making herself out as the victim on Sister Wives season 18.

9Robyn Took Christine Leaving Kody As A Personal Attack

Although Robyn had nothing to do with Christine’s final choice to leave her own marriage with Kody, she took the divorce as a personal attack rather than a way for Christine to move forward. Robyn felt that Christine was, first and foremost, leaving their family instead of leaving her marriage. Rather than try to foster a relationship with Christine during the split or after the divorce, Robyn took Kody’s lead and felt that it was Christine’s fault their family had fallen apart. She has never been able to separate herself from the divorce, even though it didn’t happen directly to her.

8Robyn’s Been Manipulating Kody’s Emotional Response To Divorce

While Kody’s response to his divorce from Christine wasn’t the easiest thing to handle, Christine leaving left Kody feeling isolated and hurt. He was unhappy with the fact that Christine left, and the betrayal cut deep as things continued to spiral out of control for the couple. Robyn, who was already feeling like a victim in the situation, wound up using Kody’s betrayal to her advantage, pushing him even further into his feelings by getting in his ear about how badly Christine was treating their family. She used her relationship to Kody as a way to manipulate him into being angrier than before, painting herself as the victim even more.

7Robyn Doesn’t Try To Pursue A Relationship With Janelle

Although Robyn puts her relationship with Kody and her children first, she is consistently vocal about the fact that she wants to carry on close relationships with her sister wives. Robyn has spoken about the fact that Janelle doesn’t pursue a relationship with her, while Meri does at times. For Kody, his wives getting along should be a huge part of plural marriage. The fact that Robyn claims she wants a relationship with her sister wives, but doesn’t necessarily pursue them or seek them out is odd. By painting Janelle as the villain in the situation, it’s clear that she’s not taking initiative in trying to make things work.

6Robyn’s Getting In The Middle Of Kody’s Other Marriages

While Robyn claims she wants a separate marriage from the rest of her sister wives and a plural family as a whole, she meddles in Kody’s relationships with his other wives frequently. Robyn has always fed information into Kody’s ears about his other wives, especially when things were rocky with Christine and Janelle. Though Robyn claims she puts a value on family, it’s clear that her relationship with Kody is the most important in her eyes, and as long as she doesn’t feel her standing with her husband is changing, she’ll do what she needs to in order to put herself first.

5Robyn Uses Meri As A Scapegoat For Kody’s Anger

Sister Wives Season 18 Robyn Brown

Kody often gets angry about his relationships, venting to Robyn about his problems in his marriages all the time rather than focusing on his relationship with her. Robyn, who is manipulative in her relationship with her sister wives and Kody, uses his anger in order to push blame off herself and onto Kody’s other wives. This typically results in Meri being used as the scapegoat for Kody’s anger, which puts her relationship far lower in Kody’s ranking. Meri gets blamed for issues outside of her control, and Kody doesn’t pay attention to their relationship often. His marriage to Meri has been hurt by Robyn, mostly in the last several years.

4Robyn’s Made Kody’s Other Relationship Problems About Her

Sister Wives Robyn Brown

While Robyn has been a listening ear for Kody about his other marriages, there’s a huge conflict of interest between Kody and Robyn when it comes to discussing his other wives. While Kody feels that he’s simply being open with his wife about his other relationships, Robyn takes the things Kody says personally and makes his marital issues about her. She takes the problems he says he has with his other wives and molds them into problems he’s having with her, or things she can use against her fellow Sister Wives. Robyn’s self-victimization tends to be at an all-time high when Kody is having problems in his other relationships.

3Robyn Knows She’s Favored By Kody And Flaunts It

As Kody’s favorite wife, it’s no secret that Robyn has been number one in her husband’s eyes when it comes to their relationship. Kody’s favoritism of Robyn has been widely known by everyone in the Brown family, even noticed by some of the older Brown children who don’t associate with their father as much anymore. While Robyn denies that she’s Kody’s favorite, it’s clear she knows and wears the favoritism as a badge of honor. For Robyn, being Kody’s favorite wife allows her to be above his other wives, using their relationship as a bargaining chip when she needs to.

2Robyn Says She Doesn’t Think She’s A Victim, But She’s Lying

Sister Wives Robyn and Kody

Robyn consistently says she isn’t a victim, pushing herself further and further on Sister Wives season 18 to make it seem like she has agency in herself and her relationship. In reality, it’s often shown how much Robyn makes herself into the victim, pushing the narrative on her own that she’s weaker than Kody and his other wives. As the last wife into the family, Robyn has tried to make it seem like she’s at the bottom of the pecking order, but everyone is aware of the way she presents herself. Robyn tries to make Kody and the family feel that she could never do anything that would be hurtful.

1Robyn’s Claims That She Doesn’t Want Monogamy Have Already Changed

After several years of Kody’s relationships crumbling, it has become clear that he won’t be left in a plural marriage and that the family will be breaking apart. Robyn has expressed several times that she’s not interested in living in a monogamous relationship, only that she wants a polygamous, plural marriage. Though Robyn has stated her views on this outwardly on Sister Wives, she’s already publicly moved away from saying she could never envision herself in a monogamous relationship. Shifting her views is just another way that Robyn has positioned herself as the victim in a situation where she’s hardly been victimized.
