Shaun Robinson Says 90 Day Fiancé Is ‘Crazy’ Because Couples ‘Didn’t Ask the Basics’ Before They Wed (Exclusive)
“And we just did another tell all. I can’t wait until you see it. It is just absolutely bananas. I mean, it’s crazy. It’s really crazy,” Robinson teased
Shaun Robinson has a theory as to why there’s so much craziness on 90 Day Fiancé.
The 90 Day Fiancé show host, 61, said she suspects lack of communication between the couples before walking down the aisle is to blame for all the drama.
“They didn’t always communicate well before they got married just to ask the basics,” she told PEOPLE at the A World of Good Gala on Friday night. “They didn’t ask the basics. And that’s probably why there’s so much wild things that go on because they just didn’t talk about all the things they needed to talk about before … they said, ‘I do.’”
“‘Oh, do you want to have children? You don’t. Oh, really? I didn’t know that. Well, even though we’ve been dating for three years, I never asked you if you wanted to have children or what religion do you want to…,’” she continued, citing some key questions that would have curbed arguments on the show. “I don’t know. I’m not sure why they didn’t ask the question.”
Robinson cited some of the crazier things that have happened on the show including Danielle Mullins “presenting” Mohamed Jbali with annulment papers, Angela Deem “flashing her girls to the camera” and several “walk-offs” and people “storming off.”
“And we just did another tell all,” Robinson teased. “I can’t wait until you see it. It is just absolutely bananas. I mean, it’s crazy. It’s really crazy. But here’s the thing: These people are really passionate.”
She also noted that the show is unique because most couples are already together before they sign onto the show and have already built that relationship.
“Of all the dating shows on TV, the show puts the couples together. [90 Day Fiancé] is the only one that I know of where the couples are actually in the relationship before they even come on the show,” she explained.
“And so there’s this authenticity,” she added. “As crazy as they are sometimes, there’s an authenticity about their relationships.”
But despite what goes on in the show, Robinson admitted that she’s having the time of her life being a part of it all.
“It’s a lot of fun,” she said of her hosting role. “And I really had to lean into it when I first started because when they first showed me the tape or real clips of the show, I was thinking to myself… ‘Oh, this probably will go on a couple seasons. It probably won’t be around that long.’ And it kept going. And it kept going. You’re adding another spinoff? You mean they have 12 spinoffs now?”
She added, “I get DMs from Morocco, Nigeria, Spain, Italy, literally… Oh, the Netherlands. I get DMs from all over the world of people watching the show. It’s crazy.”
