Lydia Calls Day Before Her Wedding the ‘Hardest Night of My Life’ as She Confronts Family (Exclusive)
Lydia Plath is putting her foot down when it comes to some family members' treatment of her husband, Zac Wyse
Lydia Plath tearfully confronts her family about their treatment of her new husband Zac Wyse in PEOPLE’s first glimpse of the Welcome to Plathville season 8 premiere.
In the clip, the Plaths gather for a family meeting following the antics that played out around Lydia and Zac’s wedding last season.
But Lydia is not happy with what went down, and she puts her foot down when it comes to some family members’ treatment of her husband.
Through tears, Lydia tells her family that the day before her wedding was “supposed to be a joyful time” as she marked her last night as a Plath. But instead, she continued, it “was actually the hardest night of my life.”

Some family members, especially Ethan and Micah, vocally expressed concerns about Zac prior to the wedding, from questioning if Lydia was being “manipulated” into marrying him to confronting Zac about his sexuality.
At the beginning of the family meeting, Lydia admits she and Zac were “quick” to marry and apologizes for putting “pressure” on her family to get to know her then-fiancé in a time crunch.
But Lydia says that “some people chose to get to know him, and some people just made their judgments — and that was that,” as the camera shifted to Ethan.
“I know you guys care,” she says, adding that “it would be amazing if there was a way to show that care, especially to Zac.”
Lydia acknowledges that some of her family members have done just that, but suggested that “if you do approve, if you do see that it’s good, it would be nice to see that effort a little bit.”

Zac apparently wants to clear the air, as well, telling the Plaths, “If there are any concerns that still are lasting now, or any questions that you have in general, I’m also open to those conversations.”
In a confessional, Zac claims he personally did not feel “a lot of pain” from the Plaths’ critiques and is more concerned about how they hurt Lydia “in the process.”
“That hurt me more,” he says. “I’m trying to lift Lydia up because I know what she’s doing is right.”
Back at the family meeting, Zac insists that despite the past, he and Lydia want to figure things out with the Plaths.

“We want to move forward,” Zac says. “And obviously, we’re open books and we want to figure things out if there’s anything that you guys don’t see fit.”
Still holding Lydia’s hand, Zac tells the group, “I’d love to be a part of this family.”
Season 8 of Welcome to Plathville premieres Tuesday, March 31, at 10 p.m.
