Jessa Duggar Seewald Speaks Out After Brother’s Arrest

In a deeply personal statement, Jessa Duggar Seewald has addressed the recent arrest of her younger brother, Joseph Duggar, on sex crime charges. The news has clearly shaken the Duggar family, and Jessa’s words reflect the pain and shock they are experiencing.

Jessa’s statement comes after a difficult history with her own brother, Josh Duggar, who was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography and is currently serving a 12.5-year sentence. Years ago, she also bravely came forward as one of Josh’s victims.

Joseph Duggar was recently arrested and charged with Lewd and Lascivious Behavior—molesting a child under 12 years old and Lewd and Lascivious Behavior by an adult 18 years or older.

A Mother’s Grief and Prayers

In a now-deleted Instagram Stories post, Jessa, 33, shared her initial reaction on behalf of herself and her husband, Ben Seewald. “We found out about this sad news along with the rest of the world on Wednesday, and we are in complete shock,” she wrote. The deletion of the post suggests the sensitivity and complexity surrounding the situation.

“Our hearts are grieving for this innocent young girl, and we know this is deeply grievous to God, who cares tenderly for children and the vulnerable. We are keeping her in our prayers,” Jessa continued, expressing her concern for the alleged victim.

Dillard’s Reaction

Jill and Derick Dillard also expressed their feelings about the arrest. They wrote “Justice be served” and “Stand with the alleged victim” and then went on to defend their sister-in-law, Kendra. We love our sister-in-law, Kendra, and our four nieces and nephews, and pray that they feel loved and supported during this time, as we cannot imagine the indescribable pain they feel as they process and grieve everything.”

Extradition to Florida Imminent

Joseph Duggar, the seventh child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, has waived his right to an extradition hearing in Arkansas. This means he will soon be transferred to Florida to face the charges against him. The Arkansas sheriff has stated firmly that there will be no special treatment for the former TLC star.

As of now, no court date has been set in Florida. Joseph remains in Arkansas, awaiting transport. Due to the crime allegedly occurring in a different state from where he was apprehended, several procedures must be followed. While Joseph has been cooperative during the booking process, the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible. His wife, Kendra, and other Duggar family members were not present at his initial court appearance on March 20th.
