Janelle Brown Reveals What Triggered Garrison’s Downward Spiral

The Sister Wives family is finally beginning to share the heartbreaking story of Garrison Brown’s struggles leading up to his tragic death in March 2024. Janelle Brown, Garrison’s mother, has opened up about the events that seemed to set her son on a difficult path. For many fans, the current season of *Sister Wives* felt incomplete, with Garrison’s presence noticeably absent. Now, as the show catches up to the timeline of his passing, the family is honoring his memory and beginning to share their experiences.

Janelle Reveals What Truly Pushed Garrison Over the Edge — Fans Left in Tears

Janelle recounted the devastating moment she learned of Garrison’s death, sharing that her son, Gabriel, had found him. She then bravely delved into the challenges Garrison faced, particularly his struggles with alcohol. According to Janelle, Garrison’s drinking was cyclical, with periods of abstinence followed by intense episodes. She noted that his alcohol use seemed to begin during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time that also brought significant friction between Garrison and his father, Kody Brown. It seemed that no matter how Garrison and Gabriel tried to connect with Kody, their efforts often backfired, causing them further distress.

In the May 4th episode of *Sister Wives*, Janelle poignantly expressed her confusion and grief:

“I don’t know what happened. He was never a drinking kid. He didn’t like it, didn’t like the taste of it. And he started to drink during COVID and something happened in this last year and it really just got him.”

Christine Brown Woolley, Janelle’s former sister wife, also acknowledged knowing that Garrison was struggling. However, like Janelle, she likely never imagined it would end this way.

Finding Their Way: A Mother’s Love and Support

Janelle emphasized the constant communication she maintained with Garrison and the efforts they made to provide him with resources and support. She said:

“We had offered him all the love, all the support, all the help, all the resources. It wasn’t that he didn’t have those things. I don’t know what happened that night he did that. Because he’s had other nights like this where he would drink and then pass out and he would go kind of radio silent, but he’d be back in the morning. I don’t know what happened this time.”

The family has been grappling with understanding how things deteriorated to such a point. The consensus seems to be that Garrison’s struggles intensified after the onset of COVID-19. Sadly, his mental state never improved, and his internal battles ultimately overwhelmed him. Janelle also openly discussed Garrison’s struggles with anxiety and depression, which she believes he attempted to self-medicate with alcohol, a choice that only exacerbated his problems. Despite the tragic outcome, Janelle finds solace in believing that they provided him with all the help and support they could.
