DOWN BROWN Sister Wives’ Kody Brown holds back tears as he opens up on lack of relationship with sons Gabriel and Garrison
Kody Brown got emotional on Sister Wives as he visited his ex-wife Janelle and dived into the lack of communication from his sons
SISTER Wives’ Kody Brown has held back tears after he discussed his lack of relationship with his sons Gabriel and Garrison Brown.
On the latest episode of TLC’s Sister Wives, the father got emotional as he felt distance from two of his sons, Gabriel and Garrison Brown.
Kody, 54, visited the home of his ex-wife Janelle Brown, 54, and his daughter Savanah Brown, 19.
He said: “Hi,” to his daughter and hugged her as he entered their home.
The scene cut to Janelle in a confessional, who said: “Kody has been making an effort with Savanah, he takes her out to dinner every couple of weeks.”
The TV star looked tired and unsure and continued: “He is seeing her more frequently than he was at the beginning of the year, for sure.”
The scene cut back to Kody walking into Janelle and Savanah’s apartment.
He looked around and said: “Wow. Pretty cool place. Look at this, this kitchen is awesome.”
The scene cut back to Janelle in the confessional, who still looked hesitant.
She continued: “Okay I guess in a way this has been a nice space because he’s not ever been into this space so it’s kind of like my space.”
Kody and Janelle separated at the end of last year.
Janelle and Kody’s “blowout argument” in December is what was the final straw for Janelle and led to their separation that same month.
During the premiere of this season, Janelle confessed she couldn’t be in a relationship with Kody if he was “estranged” from sons Gabe and Garrison Brown since she puts her kids first.
The scene showed Kody acting nicely to his daughter as he asked her whether she liked the new place.
Cutting to a confessional, Kody confessed: “My relationship with Savanah is sweet. Gentle.”
The scene then showed an old photo of Kody with his sons.
He said: “But I haven’t been in touch with my Gabriel or Garrison in quite a while.
“I’m pretty sad that I’m not close anymore. There were just so many things in our lives that were rich together.”
Kody took a deep breath: “I think and hope that in time we’ll just get over this.”
He continued: “And it will be safe being back around each other. Right now there’s not really an open door with Gabe and Garrison.”
He looked emotional and concluded: “They’re not really willing to engage with me.”
ESTRANGED FAMILY
Garrison, 25, and his younger brother Gabe, 22, have been struggling to maintain their relationship with Kody, 54, since Covid.
There was a major disagreement between Kody and Janelle’s household because of the strict safety rules the patriarch implemented.
In a clip from an earlier episode obtained by E!, the two boys were thought to have apparently blocked all contact with their father.
Kody said: “I’ve reached out to Garrison and Gabriel.
“I reached out to them just before Christmas and I reached out to them after. No, they’re blocking me.
“They’re not interested in talking to me.”
But, when it came to the boys, Garrison put a lot of blame on his dad.
THE OTHER WIVES
While talking to Christine Brown, 51, Garrison said: “Since I last talked to Dad, I bought a house, I’ve gotten into school and I got the car that I wanted – that he told me I should never get.”
Christine was one of Kody’s other wives, and she admitted to remaining close to Janelle’s family since the split.
He also said that his father “doesn’t care to” know anything about their lives.
Janelle, while in a confessional, talked about how Kody’s relationship with their kids has changed as they got older.
The Sister Wives personality said: “I can observe that Kody seems to have trouble relating to his older children and he seems to dote on the younger children.
“When my children were younger, it was very easy for him to be a father, right, because he was still kind of this important. He was important to them.”
The TLC star continued: “His opinion mattered to them, his guidance mattered to them and now, because they question a little bit, I think it might be harder for Kody to feel like he’s respected.”
