Ethan and Olivia Plath’s Divorce Is Official

After nearly three years since calling it quits, Welcome to Plathville stars Ethan and Olivia Plath have officially finalized their divorce. The couple, who captured the hearts of many with their journey on the show, have now navigated the complexities of separating their lives.

According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, filed in Minnesota’s First District Court this past February, both Ethan, 27, and Olivia, 27, agreed to a financial settlement to dissolve their marriage. A key component of their divorce decree is the mutual agreement to waive any possibility of spousal support.

“Both parties recognize that after paying normal and necessary living expenses, neither has the ability to pay maintenance to the other,” the documents state. “Each party agrees that her or his waiver of maintenance is fair and equitable, that it is supported by adequate consideration, including the mutual waivers of maintenance.”

Dividing Assets

So, how did they divide their assets? Ethan will retain bank and investment accounts held in his name. He also gets to keep his collection of classic cars, a passion he often shared on Welcome to Plathville. This includes a 1976 Chrysler New Yorker valued at $3,000, a 1978 Chrysler New Yorker valued at $5,000, and a 1937 Plymouth valued at $8,000.

Olivia, on the other hand, will maintain ownership of her company, Sunshine Media, along with all investment and bank accounts in her name. She will also keep her 2016 Subaru Outback, which was not assigned a specific monetary value in the divorce agreement.

In the court filings, Ethan declared his primary source of income as TLC, the network behind Welcome to Plathville, estimating his monthly income at around $2,500. Olivia’s income is more variable, as she runs Sunshine Media and works as a “group travel host in the State of Virginia.”

Both Ethan and Olivia have agreed to be responsible for any debts incurred under their own names, ensuring that neither will be held liable for the other’s financial obligations.

Interestingly, Olivia will retain the name “Plath” as part of the settlement, rather than reverting to her maiden name, “Meggs.”

Accusations and Moving On

The news of the finalized settlement comes after the season 8 premiere of Welcome to Plathville on March 31. In the episode, Ethan expressed frustration, accusing Olivia of deliberately stalling the divorce process. He told viewers, “Olivia will not call or respond, do anything. She’s purposely trying to hold me up, trying to make my life hell. I believe Olivia won’t let me go because she doesn’t want to let me move on to anybody else. I think that’s her motive.”

Ethan also confirmed his recent split from his girlfriend, Teegan Nichols, after revealing their relationship in December 2024. The long-distance nature of their relationship, with Ethan in Georgia and Teegan in Wisconsin, ultimately contributed to their separation. “I knew that she was tired of long distance, and I kept telling her that I would move to Wisconsin and I never did,” Ethan shared. “You can only tell someone so many times, ‘I’m going to do this,’ and you don’t and it just doesn’t mean anything.”

Back in October, Olivia revealed on the “Lovett or Leave It” podcast that she had considered divorcing Ethan just one year into their marriage. Overwhelmed by family issues, she initially hesitated due to her father’s advice against divorce. “I remember my dad told me, ‘If you get divorced it’s going to break God’s heart and it will break my heart,’” she said. “[I thought], ‘I guess I have to figure it out.’”
