MINUTES AGO! TRAGIC FATEđ! ROBYN BROWNÂ shocks fans with devastating news!
The Winding Road to Monogamy: Robyn Brown’s Journey on Sister Wives
For fans who’ve followed the Brown family saga on TLC’s Sister Wives, it’s clear that Kody and Robyn Brown have found their haven in a monogamous life. However, the path to get here was far from simple. Kody navigated through three divorces, while Robyn entered the Brown family carrying the weight of her past divorce from her first husband, David Preston Jessop.

Throughout the series, Robyn has openly shared details about her relationship with David, the father of her children Dayton, Aurora, and Breanna. These details often painted a challenging picture, revealing a strained relationship that deeply influenced Robyn’s approach to her second marriage with Kody.
Why Did Robyn and David Part Ways?
Robyn and David’s marriage began in June 1999, and they built a family together. However, in 2007, David filed for separation, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by InTouch. He stated that severe marital discord had plagued their relationship. While David didn’t elaborate on the specifics, his family has made serious accusations against Robyn, including theft, fraud, and financial abuse.
According to David’s niece, who spoke with Without A Crystal Ball, Robyn allegedly accumulated significant credit card debt during their marriage, reaching $32,000. She was even reportedly sued by Capital One for $8,600, a case that was later settled for $3,700. The niece also claimed that Robyn had never desired a plural marriage before meeting Kody, viewing it as a potential opportunity for reality TV fame. This contradicts Robyn’s own statements about her belief in plural marriage.
Beyond the allegations from David’s family, David himself has had limited involvement with his children for years. After the divorce, he was ordered to pay $159 monthly in child support for Dayton, Aurora, and Breanna. But by 2014, when Kody adopted the children following his legal marriage to Robyn, David was 30 months behind on payments and had ceased all contact with his kids.
Currently, David has four additional children with his second wife, Stacy, and remains estranged from his older children. In September 2023, David and his wife launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with his battle against Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Recent updates from TV Shows Ace in September 2024 indicate that his health has improved since starting the fundraiser.
Robyn’s Reluctance Towards Legal Marriage with Kody
Robyn has kept details of her current relationship with David private. However, during Season 19 of Sister Wives, she revealed that her difficult experience with David reinforced her belief that plural marriage was the right path for her.
In Season 19, Episode 15, Meri Brown discussed her legal divorce from Kody, which allowed him to adopt Robyn’s children. While Meri initially agreed to the divorce, she later felt that Kody had been planning it all along.
Christine Brown accused Robyn of subtly suggesting the idea of divorce to Kody and Meri. She claimed that Robyn mentioned knowing couples where the husband divorces his first wife to legally marry the last. Robyn vehemently denied these allegations, stating that she preferred not to be Kody’s legal wife due to her past trauma with David.
“I never said it,” Robyn confessed. “I don’t even know anyone who divorced their first wife so that the second wife could adopt kids. I’ve never even heard of that before. Meri told me when she made the offer that when we were getting to know each other, she had had the idea in her head to offer to give me the legal marriage so that Kody could adopt my kids.”
“I was actually really grateful that I wasn’t going to be legally married to Kody because I’d gone through so much trauma with my legal divorce in my last marriage,” she added.
Despite Robyn’s insistence that the legal marriage was Meri’s idea, some fans and former sister wives may believe otherwise. Regardless, it’s likely she has found greater happiness in her second marriage compared to her first.
