90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’s Sarper And Shekinah Reach Relationship Breaking Point

This season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way has proven to be a rocky road for several of the couples. As the romantic pairs have to navigate which of their native countries they’ll live in, logistical matters can quickly make things grow emotionally fraught.

This is certainly the case for reality TV veterans Shekinah and Sarper. Ever since Sarper moved to the US to be with Shekinah, the tensions have been running high, and in the latest episode, we got to see things boil over like never before.

Sarper Questioned His Long-term Relationship

In the previous episode, Sarper and Shekinah had an explosive argument over their challenging situation. While Shekinah felt like Sarper wasn’t grateful for all she was doing for him, including being the only one who was able to work and then also taking on household duties like cooking, Sarper felt like his partner wasn’t acknowledging how tough of a transition moving to LA had been for him.

Things ended in an awkward place for the couple after the fight, and Shekinah even revealed that Sarper had been sleeping on the couch since then. In this episode, the two had to have a difficult conversation about what they were going to do moving forward. There isn’t much time to make a choice, as Sarper only has two months left on his visa, meaning they either have to get married before then or he has to return to Turkey on his own.

A dark secret is revealed and the threat of divorce looms for at least one of the couples.

When the two sat down to have a conversation, Sarper explained to the cameras how their current situation wasn’t tenable:

We cannot keep living this way. We have to solve it. We have to break up, or we have to get well again. Nothing in between.

In his conversation with Shekinah, Sarper explained he felt she didn’t even “like” him anymore, to which Shekinah said she simply didn’t like “the Sarper that you’ve been showing me lately.” She went on to describe him as “distant, cold, rude, [and] dismissive.”

In a group gathering, the cast calls each other out for their broken promises and toxic behavior.

Speaking to the cameras again, Sarper admitted that this distance between him and Shekinah was making him doubt the security of their entire relationship. “She was obsessed with me when we were in Turkey,” he pointed out. “I mean, she was listening to me a lot more. Right now, I mean, that harsh tone, she barely used that. In Turkey we had small problems, but here everything changed,” he added.

Shekinah Is Having Second Thoughts About Marriage

Sarper’s doubts may not be unfounded, as Shekinah appears to be reconsidering their plans to get married. Though Sarper largely blames his move to the US (and subsequent depression) for their issues, Shekinah insists that Sarper’s poor behavior is still the root cause. That is, even though he may be struggling to adjust to life in LA, he still needed to treat her well.

Shekinah described how she felt Sarper was responsible for the problem:

The version of me that you get depends on how you treat me. And how you’ve been treating me the past few days is the reason why you’re seeing this face now, and you’re hearing this voice now. It’s because of you. So it’s a choice that you make.

She went on to say that she felt Sarper was being “reckless” with their relationship, and she wasn’t sure she could put up with it for much longer. For his part, Sarper seemed to remain defensive, focusing on how terrible it would be if they were to actually break up. “You know that if we break up, you will cry for years for me. I know you. I am the most perfect match for you,” he emphasized.

The cast members call each other out in the most dramatic gathering yet.

The two ended their argument in a stalemate, with Shekinah leaving the room and telling Sarper to resume the conversation with her when he had “something better to say.” To the cameras, she explained that she had originally never wanted to get married, and now she was wondering if she should’ve stuck with her first plan all along. “I just feel foolish, and I feel like I should have just stuck with what I originally wanted, which was to never get married,” she noted.
