’90 Day Fiance’ Star Darcey Silva’s Daughters Recall ‘Weird’ $ex Talk With Mom on the Show
90 Day Fiancé star Darcey Silva‘s daughters made rare comments about what life was like growing up on their mom’s various reality shows including how their televised sex talk got “weird.”
Aniko Bollok, 20, and Aspen Bollok, 19, whom Darcey, 50, shares with ex-husband Frank Bollok, got candid with Teen Vogue in a profile published on Tuesday, May 14.
The girls noted how easy it is to search Google and find videos of their mom quizzing the girls about what they knew about sex before asking them if they knew how to put a condom on a banana.
“That’s such a weird moment, but also, viewers love that stuff,” Aspen told the publication. “I still think about that scene a lot,” Aniko added. “And I can’t watch that scene because I hate the way my hair looks in the back.”
The girls were in their early teens when their mom had the sex talk during the season 2 premiere of Darcey & Stacey. Aniko revealed she already had her first kiss, which shocked her mom.
“What have you learned exactly? Did they teach you how to put a condom on a banana?” Darcey asked at the time about what they knew about sex, and the sisters responded they hadn’t. The girls then cringed when their mom asked, “You know how it works? They put the condom on the pee pee.”
“This is the worst conversation I’ve had in my whole entire life,” Aniko shared in a confessional about her mother’s inquiries about their knowledge on the topic of sex.
Aniko and Aspen have grown up on reality TV, making their TLC debut when their mom appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days when they were 12 and 10 years old.
“It was always her biggest dream to be on TV,” Aniko told the publication of her mom’s ambitions. “We always knew that. She was like, ‘girls, I did it.’”
However, it made for a somewhat uncomfortable upbringing for Aniko and Aspen, growing up in the small town of Middletown, Connecticut. In addition to the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, the sisters starred in Darcey & Stacey, their mom’s reality show with her twin sister, Stacey Silva.
“There’s been so many moments where filming has both affected me and Ani because, first of all, our whole drama was on TV for kids to see our age, for parents to see,” Aspen explained. “Especially living in a small town. I think that it really affected us because it’s all our personal [business] aired online.”
The sisters are now in college and told the outlet that their fame occasionally causes them to question whether new friends or love interests are interested in them for the possibility of appearing on reality TV. They also added how their mom can be “overwhelming,” which also makes bringing new people into their life challenging.
Darcey made her 90 Day Fiancé franchise debut on season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days with ex-boyfriend Jesse Meester in August 2017. Their split played out on season 2 of the show. Darcey returned for season 3 of Before the 90 Days in 2019, when she had a new long-distance boyfriend, Tom Brooks, but their relationship fell apart, with their breakup shown in in 2020’s season 4.
Later that year, Darcey and Stacey’s reality show spinoff premiered, which featured Aniko and Aspen.
