90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 5 couple Shekinah Garner and Sarper Güven have baby drama, and it’s finally reached a conclusion. Shekinah is a 41-year-old makeup artist and aesthetician from Los Angeles who was on vacation in Turkey when she swiped right on Sarper, 43. Shekinah was just a one-night stand for the model, but things took a serious turn when Shekinah decided she would move to Istanbul to stay with Sarper, leaving behind her life in the U.S. However, Sarper not making their relationship Instagram official and pushing her to have a child could make Shekinah reconsider her decision.
Shekinah had been clear about not wanting a baby with Sarper right from the start of their relationship. Shekinah already had a 15-year-old daughter at home and decided a while ago that she didn’t want to have any more kids. While Sarper knew about this, he changed his mind five months into their relationship. Sarper believed that Shekinah not having his baby was like an insult to their love. He wanted to plan a future together with Shekinah, and this included a child of their own. Shekinah felt blindsided about how Sarper had switched things up on her as soon as she moved to Turkey.
Sarper Didn’t See A Future With Shekinah Without A Baby
Sarper didn’t give up on looking for his long-lost son, even though he only remembered the mother’s first name. However, Sarper was still keen on raising his and Shekinah’s kid together. Shekinah had dealt with a lot of troubles as a single mom. With Sophie’s dad off at work, Shekinah was left with the majority of the responsibility of raising her daughter. Sarper felt insulted by Shekinah doubting his ability to become a father. Shekinah called Sarper a “spoiled brat” as he told her to either have a child with him or go back to the U.S. Sarper wanted Shekinah to be “flexible,” but she refused to cry at the thought of “losing” Sarper.

Sarper told Shekinah it would take him two days to forget her, but when she started to pack her bags to leave, he stopped her. Shekinah didn’t see any reason to stay because of how he was treating her. Shekinah moved out of Sarper’s apartment and began living in a hotel for two days. He apologized to Shekinah, and she forgave him despite his erratic and aggressive behavior. Sarper admitted he was wrong to say he didn’t see a future with Shekinah unless there was a child in it. “I will never insist you on anything from now on,” he told her.
Shekinah Is Avoiding Baby Question From Fans
Sarper told the cameras that it’s an “important thing” for him to have a child, and his parents also want him to have one. However, he saw what his life would be like without Shekinah, so he decided to “never open that issue” again unless Shekinah wanted to. In October 2023, Shekinah told a fan on Instagram that she and Sarper don’t feel like they need to be married to be happy together. She wrote that “marriage is a cultural conditioning and dying institution,” but she would still say yes to Sarper if he asked Shekinah to marry him because he’s her forever person.
When a different fan asked Sarper, “Will we be seeing a wedding and children in the future?” he echoed Shekinah’s thoughts as he wrote that a “wedding is just a signature on paper.” He continued, “The main thing is putting [a] signature to [heart emoji].” He conveniently dodged the question about children, and Shekinah also didn’t mention anything about having a baby. The couple is still in a new relationship, and they could want to take some more time to get to know each other better before jumping into marriage or having children. For now, Shekinah and Sarper are happy, and that’s all that matters.
